Hair Restoration Q&A

What causes hair loss?

Most people experience gradual hair loss as they get older, but some conditions cause a sudden and sometimes severe loss of hair.

You can suffer this type of hair loss by:

  • Experiencing emotional or physical stress
  • Developing a nutritional deficiency
  • Having an autoimmune condition
  • Getting a fungal infection
  • Undergoing cancer treatment
  • Taking certain medications

The most common cause of hair loss, however, is a condition called androgenetic alopecia.

Does hair restoration work for androgenetic alopecia?

Yes, androgenetic alopecia usually responds well to regenerative hair restoration treatments. Androgenetic alopecia is an inherited condition that’s more commonly known as male pattern baldness and female pattern baldness.

When you have androgenetic alopecia, your hair follicles become overly sensitive to a specific hormone. Exposure to the hormone makes the follicles shrink and grow thinner hair. Over time, the follicles stop growing hair.

Men with androgenetic alopecia develop the classic pattern of a receding hairline and hair loss on the top of their head. Women may see distinct thinning along their part. But female-pattern baldness causes general thinning over the entire scalp.

What types of regenerative treatments work for hair restoration?

When treating androgenetic alopecia, Jennylle uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) together with UltraMint, a combination of growth factors, peptides, and hyaluronic acid.

PRP consists of a high concentration of platelets mixed with plasma, which is the liquid part of your blood. Jennylle makes PRP by drawing a sample of your blood and processing it to separate the platelets and plasma.

How does PRP promote hair restoration?

Platelets contain proteins called growth factors. Any time you have an injury, platelets go to the damaged tissues and release their growth factors, which then trigger healing. The growth factors also regulate inflammation, recruit stem cells to the area, and promote the growth of new blood vessels.

When Jennylle injects PRP into the balding and thinning areas of your head, the platelets stimulate the hair follicles. PRP may promote new hair growth, increase hair thickness, and slow down your hair loss.

If you have thinning hair or see signs of balding, natural regenerative hair restoration can help. Call RVA Regenerative Wellness or book an appointment online today.
